these days

we love alaska. the other day, on the way to the park, we saw (and heard) trumpeter swans, flying overhead. how cool is that? the weather is getting chilly, so i busted out my crocheting skills and made some mittens. yay! it wasn't the best pattern, but they'll make do for now.

we went to borders on a date. it was so much fun. two hot chocolates and a few magazines later, we were the happiest kids on the block. we were also able to go to tastee freez. that's right. they still exist, and the only one in town happens to be minutes from the house i grew up in. we both hadn't been there in years, and it was delicious.

the other day, i had some movies/books/cds due at the library. we explored this really cool part that i've literally only been once or twice my entire life, and i'm a huge library patron. the alaska wing. there was a display of z.j. loussac's legacy and some items his drugstore sold. there were maps that detailed the voyage to find the northwest passage. there was the ann steven's reading room, which was full of old, classic books. it was such a neat library adventure.

these are the yummo homemade licorice caramels that lisa made the other day. they were sooo good. melt in your mouth good. i helped cut and wrap them (while mikie may or may not have helped eat them). i realize they might not look super great, mainly because it's a cell phone picture, so you'll have to trust me on this one :)

mikie is working at home depot now, and i have a job interview tomorrow with joann fabrics. i am super excited and slightly nervous. if i ace the interview, i start on monday. wish me luck!
