SO! what has been going on in my life on my year-long sabbatical?
well, a lot. but mostly two main things.
1. we moved to oregon!
once mikie's internship ended, we decided we needed to move. sorry rexburg, it's not you, it's me. (actually, a lot of it was you.) since moving out here though, i've come to really miss our little home in idaho. idahome? i miss our super cheap townhome that we rented. the snow cone shack. our friends. the taco buses. oh and living half an hour away from chick-fil-a. (something about their chocolate milkshakes!)
even though our first non-idaho summer was spent completely roasting in our non-air conditioned apartment, we have come to really enjoy this place. (also, what is with people that live here that claim "it doesn't get hot in the pnw!" last summer was at least 90 degrees everyday for at least two months.)
people are friendly here. when we used to have alaska plates on the car, people were ALWAYS stopping us to talk to about alaska. (also for some reason there's a lot of people from ketchikan and kodiak here. so random.)
we LOVE getting to live by mary + christian and their kids. we especially love being able to hang out with baby peter and watching him grow. that's fun. babies are so fun.
2. oh yeah, so babies.
we are having one of those things.
as much as i really wanted to just surprise social media with a baby in a few weeks, i figured i should probably document on this little blog that mikie and i are having a baby!
it's still incredibly surreal. it probably won't even begin to feel real until after the small human child is here in my arms, crying.
i'm due in three weeks (THREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and i'm 100% freaking out because my to-do list on my phone looks like this: FIND A PEDIATRICIAN ASAP! PACK A HOSPITAL BAG! MAKE A BIRTH PLAN! INSTALL THE CAR SEAT! (a very serious plea to to all my mom friends: please tell me w.hat you found useful in your hospital bag. or what you found to be the most useful for postpartum recovery. both, actually. please tell me both.)
baby girl is having the best time kicking me right now. i was thinking that it would be nice to go lay down in bed but she was like "LOL you're so funny, mother." and kicks away. it's reassuring and also quite annoying.
before i was ever pregnant, i had these plans how i would document my growing belly and make all these cute things for my baby, etc etc. then pregnancy happened and baby hid in my long torso until i was 25-ish weeks and nobody at church even noticed until i was seven months pregnant. SEVEN! so i really have no bump pictures because there wasn't anything to show for the longest time.
also baby crafting has barely happened because apparently growing a baby is super duper tiring. apparently it means nothing when, pre-pregnancy, you are able to wake up early, take no naps, and then go to bed late.
my current sleep schedule goes something like wake up late, take an hour long nap because i had to go grocery shopping and it wore me out, and then get tired again at like nine o'clock. i'm pretty sure i go to sleep the same time as my nieces and nephews.
anyway. that's the big news! i'm pregnant and will probably be giving birth before the next time i blog again.
here's two pictures. because i still can't finish a blog post properly, and because i'm too tired to find other pictures to post. sorry bout that.
the goonies house! dream come true!

I definitely still read your blog!
Since I got rid of facebook, blogs are my way of keeping in contact with people! :) So, today I spoke to Anna and she goes, "doesn't Li-sha have like 3 kids or something???" :)
hahahha.
Now I get to tell her you're prgenant!
Haha! That is hilarious! Nope, definitely do not have three kids. I think I would cry a little if I had three kids in only 4.5 years of marriage.
YAAAAAY!! I love when you blog. Also, I can't believe it's been almost a year since your last one?? Also I can't wait to like all of your future posts of your baby via social media #helicopterfriend
Ahhhh finally the official blog post!!! Yay. And we totally missed the burg after we moved - the cheap housing can't be beat. As to the hospital bag: slippers, a going home outfit for you and baby, a pillow and blanket for Mikie, and a pillow for you if you want, a robe, and a post delivery nightgown if you want. I wish I would have brought a night gown cause I kept getting all twisted up in the hospital gown, etc. If you do make sure its one you don't mind getting blood on.
Sorry, one more comment. I had to go pull my daughter off of my shoes for the upteenth time. She is worse than an untrained puppy when it comes to chewing on shoes. Ha. Anyways for recovery. Ah recovery, I'll never be prepared to go through that again...The hospital should send you home with Tuck's witch hazel pads, but I would buy extra for when you run out. Dermoplast spray for itching and helping in the healing process. Both Tucks wipes and Dermoplast can be found in the Pharmacy department. Lanolin (can be found in the baby department). You don't need to worry about bringing pads and underwear to the hospital cause they should provide all that, but you'll want some for at home. Overnight pads most likely for the first couple weeks. I didn't wear my garments the first couple weeks cause I was bleeding so much, but that's totally up to you. Also, try really hard to not do anything during recovery. Let Mikie and others help you. Trust me. If you overdo it you'll bleed more and slow down recovery. For engorged....you know what...nursing and ice packs help the best. Okay sorry for the long list! The nurses will tell you everything you need to know and they don't mind answering any questions you have. I am soooo excited!!! I can't wait to see pics and hear all about it when you're feeling up to it!!!
I still read your blog! As far as hospital bags go... umm... I'm glad I had my camera. Seriously thought, I'm of the party of women who believe you could show up with nothing and be fine. It was nice to have like shampoo and conditioner to clean up once you take your first shower. I think Jordan wished that he had more to do, like next time he wants to bring a book, and another change of clothes. We stayed at the hospital for the full 48 hours after delivery, plus the 12 hours during labor. I think we only brought Jordan one pair of clothes thinking he might run home at some point, but he stayed with me the whole time, which I loved. OH but you definitely need a bra that allows you to nurse (if you're going to breastfeed) and some lanolin. I didn't go out and buy a nice nursing bra until a few days after we were home (advice from friends), but one friend did tell me about these great sports bras at walmart that are great for the hospital and nursing (http://www.walmart.com/ip/13997192?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedItemId=17325432&adid=22222222227014441212&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=42971722232&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=81463635152&veh=sem) they unclip in the front, are more comfortable than a regular bra and aren't super tight. I brought two of those. As far as postpartum recovery, keep up with your meds until you feel better. Also, I know you said that you still needed to write a birth plan. I think that the best birth plans only contain one step: deliver a healthy baby. Don't go in expecting to know exactly what you want because you've never done it before, so how would you know? Anyway...SO EXCITING! Can't wait for you to be a mom.
Yay! I love your posts and chocolate... Any and all kinds! And hospital bag... I agree with a loose bra to nurse in. I lived in my sweats at the hospital and my mom brought a deck of cards, that was fun to have something to do besides find a name for Kate!
For all I know you've probably had your baby and won't tell us till she is 3. As for hospital bag just stock it full of snacks. I felt like I was starving the entire time I was at the hospital. Please blog more once the tiny human gets here. I wish I documented better. So excited for you! And now I want Cadbury Eggs. They are my favorite chocolate.
PS super impressed people were rocking bras at the hospital. I definitely was not. :-)
