happy sunday!

we are alive! isn't that the best reason ever to be happy? i was thinking about that earlier today. i'm happy to be alive. seriously kids. to be alive is a great thing. sure, life has its ups and downs. but, we learn from these hard times. elder holland once said "if for a while the harder you try the harder it gets--take heart. so it has been with the best people that have ever lived."
that being said, here are some reasons why we are oh so very happy.

1. mikie earned four As on the four tests that he took within a week. seriously folks, he's smart. i just had to brag.
2. we have the best roommates ever... each other:) haha
3. hanging out with our favorite alaskans, which is something that hasn't happened for quite some time.
4. one week from now we won't be in rexburg. that's a good reason to make us happy:)
5. cinnamon toast crunch. enough said.
6. when byu wins at anything against the u of u. like basketball, for instance.
7. watching the tron and then rewatching tron 2. it makes so much more sense now. and we love it when things make sense.
8. celebrating six months of marriage (last week). half a year has flown by, which blows my mind, but it has been great.
9. when it's still not dark after five o'clock and we can see the sunset. we definitely are not in alaska anymore.

we hope you all have an excellent upcoming week:)

to live will be a great adventure- peter pan

celebration!

so today, mikie did really good on one of his tests. today we also happened to not eat anything really until around 4:30, so we decided to go to sammy's cafe. yes, there is one in rexburger now.

so side story. i used to watch this adorable family, and the youngest son, ethan looooved watching yo gabba gabba!. i distinctly remember him singing the goodbye song at the top of his lungs, before he could really even talk that well. wow. this post is taking way too long to write, seeing as i keep getting distracted youtubing yo gabba gabba! seriously. that show is so cool. the killers. taking back sunday. the shins. of montreal. sean kingston. who haven't they had on that show? (and those are just the bands!) love it. anyway. so basically i watched yo gabba gabba! whenever i was with the little dude.

okay, and another cool story. when i was like ten or eleven, my sister gave an aquabats cd. my little heart loved that ska cd to bits and pieces. pretty super rad.

so the man behind yo gabba gabba! and the aquabats is the same guy. christian jacobs. but i already knew that. and then as it turns out, the owner of sammy's brother  is the man behind it all. that connection between yo gabba gabba!, the aquabats, and now sammy's cafe blew my mind for some reason, so i hope you all enjoyed what it was like being in my brain.

the food was way good. and since sammy's is in old historic rexburg, a chunk of the ceiling fell out when we were eating. not into our food or anything, that's gross. but still entertaining nonetheless.

so good job, mikie bear, for doing good on your test, because if you didn't we would have eaten top ramen, and this blog post wouldn't have existed.

domesticated.

i am feeling so domesticated today.

i'll tell you why. ever since moving to rexburger, i had this idea that i would be the best housewife ever and make at least one meal a day for mikie. today i made chicken noodle soup and it was goooood. i kind of just threw a rotisserie chicken carcass, carrots, celery, bell peppers, garlic, and just other random stuff into a stockpot, covered it in chicken stock and let that sucker simmer. after an hour, i strained the broth into a different pot (i almost strained it down the sink, by habit. mikie caught me just in time.)  and then threw some carrots and celery until they were soft, added some noodles and rotisserie chicken meat, and it was perfecto! basically i just guessed about all measurements. best guessing ever!

today i also drank way too much red cream soda. so good.

well we finally have internet at home. as in, mikie can now do homework at home. imagine that! so that is exciting. maybe i will start my etsy shop soon. who knows.

oh, so the other day i was feeling really sad because i missed my mom more than usual that day. i found a scripture in enos that i wanted to share:
And I soon go to the place of my rest, which is with my Redeemer; for I know that in him I shall rest. And I rejoice in the day when my mortal shall put on immortality, and shall stand before him; then shall I see his face with pleasure, and he will say unto me: Come unto me, ye blessed, there is a place prepared for you in the mansions of my Father. Amen.
little stinker.

what words of comfort and joy! anyway. i hope you all have a wonderful weekend. :)

p.s. in case you didn't notice... our baby blog has gotten a makeover! what do you think?

lets face it.

i'm a terrible blogger. it's really hard to blog without internet access at home.
but anyway. two more days and we'll have the world wide web accessible from the sofa.

oh by the way. heads up: i am going to start an etsy shop!
i won't be selling very much because i need a job so i can buy more materials... but i think mikie is sick of me crocheting things all day that i don't wear. like headbands and hats and little bows.
so keep your heads up:)

p.s. angry birds, anybody? so addicting!

mountains and stuff

well guys we made it.
we drove the alcan, in the dead of winter,
and we survived to tell about it.
but let me tell you, it really sucked.

it was beautiful driving through the mountains.
and i have never been so overjoyed to see a city in that frozen wasteland we call the yukon.
it was also neat to see that the more south we drove,
the more sunlight the place received. awesome.

and then there was the time the ditch sucked us in. oops.
and the time that mikie was even more extra awesome for driving through a four hour blizzard.
or how about the time some guy told us there wasn't another gas station for miles, so we had to pay $35 for a half tank of gas... only to drive half an hour down the road and see a brightly lit gas station.
or the time that it was pitch black at four pm.

but here we are in good ol' rexy.
where the shelves of walmart have been cleaned off, where d.i. has nothing in it, the girls dress weird, and tractors drive down the street.
we have finally started to move into our own apartment.
(we've been to bed, bath, and beyond so many times it's embarrassing.)
it is seriously the best thing to decorate your very own apartment.

oh, we saw megamind in the dollar theater.
it is seriously hilarious. we definitely recommend it.

alaskan mountains are the best!

around 10:30 or 11 in the morning... blah.

oops.
