li-sha and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

did any of you ever read that book? i used to own it when i was in elementary school. okay so maybe i didn't wake up with gum in my hair, and i didn't have to go the dentist, nor did i have to buy shoes that i didn't like, but today quite honestly, sucked. for some reason work was extremely busy (at the end of my shift today there was almost $700 dollars in the till. normally there's only about $350 or $400 max.) and to top it off, i had a bloody nose in the middle of my shift.

so here i am at home, in bed, watching becoming jane. okay and as bad as my day was (which wasn't even horribly bad... just extremely busy.) we've actually been doing pretty swell. i made this delicious apple crisp on monday just because i wanted something autumn-y smelling to eat, and boy did it smell good and autumn-y. oh and it tasted good too. veryyy good

anyway. here are some pictures from the fair that we went to a month ago haha. i heard this was one of the best fairs around, but lets be honest here. the alaska state fair is pretty dang hard to beat. it cost twenty bucks for the two of us to go onto two rides. when did rides get so expensive!? but still, getting ripped off was all part of the fair experience (or something like that...)

as if we weren't tall and skinny enough...

it's the grand chawhee's birthday!

brownie points for whoever gets the reference to the horse race picture. okay and lastly, since mikie complained that i wore all of his shirts to work and got them gross, i bought some shirts that were on sale at jo-ann's (oh how i miss working there.) and plan on freezer paper stenciling them. i already made one but i can't figure out what to do on the other ones.

so i made this one, after seeing this online (HP4L!). i thought it was really cool and expected rave reviews when i wore it to work. yeah. i think it freaks people out a little more that i intended it to, since i'm assuming most people only saw a giant black dementor and not harry's patronus in it. i wanted to write 'expecto patronum' somewhere on it but i haven't really figured that out yet. anyway. if anybody else has cool ideas as to what i can put on my other four shirts let me know :-)

my husband grew a beard

and here's the proof.

this is a month's worth of facial hair. he finally shaved last week. and now he hasn't had to shave since then, since his facial hair decided to stop growing. hahaha. anyway. here are some nice pictures from my camera (i found my camera cord!...) to keep you entertained while i ramble.

pioneer day fireworks, aka utah 4th of july #2

i recently started to have really bad wrist pain about a week ago. everyday it has gotten considerably worse but yesterday it started to feel somewhat not as bad. every morning when i wake up though, it's really stiff and it hurts to move. i've self diagnosed myself with tendonitis, and i know it has something to do with my job scooping frozen  ice cream all day, so i took this weekend off to re-cooperate. hopefully that will do something.

i know that i need to do something to change what the little bloggy layout looks like, but i have not had the time or the energy. i come home from work and all i want to do is watch 30 rock via netflix. why have i not been watching that show before now? so that's all we've been watching, basically. we are addicted. speaking of netflix, i just went and changed my plan to the unlimited streaming since they changed the stupid plans. a;slkdjfqo. whatever! its not like we get the movies anyway, once we get them in the mail we watch it immediately, and then hold onto it for an extra three months. please, it's not like we're the only ones that do that... anyway, back to 30 rock. it's number one. oh and today we watched a christmas episode, and then watched miracle on 34th street... i have a problem. it's called, 'i don't like super hot weather and i'm really excited for snow and christmas.' please don't call me any mean names.

i attempted to make my own salsa today, and it was completely horrible. but that's okay, because it cost a grand total of like, three dollars. but really. it was awful. moral of the story: if it burns your eyes before you taste it... don't eat it. cause it will burn your tongue for like fifteen minutes after you eat just a few small bites of it. also... two jalapenos is a lot. are you still reading this? if you're still reading, comment with the place you want to visit the most. (ie: new york, at christmas time. don't steal my answer.)

the eastern idaho state fair is next week in blackfoot and we hope to go so we can run into these guys that are performing there... hahaha lies. we want to go. but not for them. okay and seriously, that video cracks me up, mainly because that kid in the polka dot shirt reminds me of spot conlon from newsies. brooklyn! okay i just imdb-ed spot buddy and he looks creepy now. but we are excited for excellent fair food and rides.

i'm done. the last picture is mikie's giant soda glass, compared to my meager water glass. the end.

a bad excuse, a recipe, & lots of rambling

sigh.... hello blogging friends. has it really been almost a whole month since the last time we spoke?
oh dear. my bad. i am ever so sorry. kind of.
it's been an eventful month though, not going to lie. mikie got a 3.89 last semester (woot woot!), we finally got a real bed, we celebrated our one year anniversary, went to utah (i promise we do not go to utah that often... okay maybe we did but now we won't.), watched rsl defeat san jose 4-0, ate a million otter pops, watched our favorite movies at the dollar theater, and umm... well, i went to work. all terrible excused of why i haven't blogged. it probably should have been more reason to blog, but whatever.

okay, can i just say how i just made the best dinner homemade dinner i have made in a while? AND i made up the recipe... kind of. well, i combined two different recipes and then made up bits and pieces here and there. i made asian noodle soup. i know, i know, probably not surprising to most of you haha. but i was craving some asian noodles and this is what it calls for:
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 cloves minced garlic (i used pre-minced garlic that comes in jars in the store. 1/2 teaspoon of that stuff equals one clove of garlic, and i thought it was nice because i hate peeling and chopping garlic.)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar (okay, can i just say having an asian family, and being chinese myself, i have never used rice vinegar in my life. i swear it's only the white people recipes for asian food that use it.)
  • 3 tablespoons seseame oil (i've never used that either, but whatever. i thought it smelled so good. my nice husband thought it smelled like zoo animals.)
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste (or chili flakes, whatever. just something to give it a small kick.)
  • 1 or 2 teaspoons ground ginger (i didn't really measure here.)
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • chopped nappa cabbage
  • chopped green onion
  • cilantro
  • cooked noodles (just cook however much you think you need. also, we used spaghetti noodles. if you have different asian noodles that you think would be better, go ahead and by all means, use them.)
  • cooked chicken, cut into pieces (improvise people! if you have chicken on hand, use that. or just be like us and get a rotisserie chicken.)
mix all ingredients from soy sauce to ground ginger in a small bowl. heat broth in a small pot, and add in soy sauce mixture. pour heated broth over cooked noodles. garnish with nappa cabbage, green onion, cilantro, and chicken. they key is not skimping on vegetables! the first time i made this, it was plain noodles, and it was completely awful. you need vegetables. for real. (seriously though friends, try it. try it on a cold rainy night, or save it for winter.)

okay so we ate that for dinner and then saw kung fu panda 2 at the dollar theater. theme night perhaps? don't judge, i thought it was a good idea.

so for our anniversary, i was at work. but that wonderful husband of mine stopped by and brought me beautiful flowers. after i got off, we went to rexburg's very own water park. (the words 'water park' here is used very loosely, because if you consider a water park as one slide, a lazy river, and a lap pool (not even a WAVE pool, and LAP pool) then yes, i guess it's a water park.) for dinner we couldn't agree where to go, and for some reason decided to hit up Frontier Pies. for our one year anniversary dinner. it was sooo freaking good. we both got soup with our dinner, and they were not only delicious, but came in huge bowls. not the tiny little soup cups at fancy schmancy restaurants. hahaha we have style, we know. yes i have pictures. no, you cannot see them... i can't find my camera cord thingy. so instead you can see my favorite wedding pictures! lucky you!

...okay. some of these pictures looked washed out. not so on my computer but whatever, blogger. and this post has taken way too long to write. i've been writing it for hours, but i keep getting sidetracked. and i have to go to bed.

wait! okay, if anybody can tell me how to change the little orange blogger 'b' at the top of the tab? anybody know what i'm talking about? oh and i've been wanting needing a beginners sewing machine... so if anybody has any tips on what to get or would like to donate to my sewing machine fund, that would be cool too.

alrighty, i'm really outta here.

Are you crazy? A man in a really nice camper wants to put our song on the radio! Gimme a pen, I'm signing! You're signing! We're all signing!

friends, family, and stalkers-

all my birthday wishes came true! (just in case you were wondering.) my awesome sister sent me a copy of 'that thing you do' and my husband informed me for our family reunion next year, we're going to disneyland. aaahhh i am so excited! oh and i now think about 'that thing you do' quotes all day long. feel free to quote with me. seriously.

well. my awesome sister also sent me a paint-by-number picture of the savior in the mail for mikie's birthday/my birthday/our apartment decoration. that's right. a paint-by-number picture. that she bought online. from hong kong. so i was at work, when mikie sent me a confused text about a package from hong kong... and then he opened it, and was super confused. and then he thought it was a topography map.

hahaha he thought my sister sent me a paint by number topography map. i love that boy, always thinking about school related stuff. but who can blame him, i guess this really does look like a map...

see? a topography map haha. ...oh and i sewed an elephant. uhhh late one wednesday night i decided i was going to hand sew an elephant. so i made up some crappy pattern and sewed myself a felt elephant. so excuse my crafting supplies, empty otter pops, and my 'that thing you do' disc (have i talked about that movie enough?) on the table.

a few weeks ago we were able to go to utah and visit some friends and family. mary & christian moved to oregon, and we went to hang out with them one last time. it was so freaking hot. ugh. but we had fun and loved every minute of it.

my favorite kiddos:)

my beautiful sarah and her twins, carter and weston. they like hanging out with each other.

a google maps car! we passed not one, not two, but three of them on the way back to idaho.

p.s. i'm not sure how many of you have ever read notalwaysright.com. it's one of my favorite sites to check to remind myself that i'm not the only one out there who deals with ridiculous customers in the service industry. a while back i had a funny experience, that i submitted to the site. today i checked it and i read my own story! it has over 400 likes. i was excited. i still am. the end.

6.12.2011

you guys look great in red, have i told you that?

sooo... today we were looking for something to watch during lunch, and saw on netflix some behind the scenes of disneyland/disneyworld/disney cruise.

i. want. to. go. so bad. maybe to the point where i have three open tabs in my browser, all for disneyland... ahhh. if anybody wants to donate to our disneyland funds, by all means, feel free. also if anybody wants to buy me 'that thing you do' for my birthday in two and a half weeks, i'd love that too. ha.

in other news-
we got to visit the e.r. this weekend! :) i now know where the hospital is. don't fret, he's okay. he just had severe abdomen cramps so bad that he couldn't breathe. nbd?

our ward was split up today... which makes us really sad. i'm sure our bishopric is equally as awesome, but we were just starting to get to the point where people would recognize us. (haha kind of sad, oh well.)

we went to 'park st. park' today. we like to call it park saint park, but really it's park street park. they have one of those crazy old-school metal merry-go-rounds there, and we were on a total of like five minutes before we couldn't take it anymore.

guy: yeah, we were pretty wild up in erie, penn.
lenny: yeah, there was this one time, we stayed up way past midnight.

p.s. i dedicate this post to kara varley... mainly because she is one of my stalkers, and because she worked at disney world last summer.
p.p.s. it is impossible to eat just one otter pop, for real.
