IT SNOWED, AND THE ALASKAN IN ME IS HAPPY.

we caught the first half of a local high school football game yesterday. it has been snowing like crazy lately, and i absolutely love it. i love snow. i adore it. i love the way the world becomes muffled when snow falls. i love how everything is coated in a clean white blanket. most of all i love the memories associated with it. i guess it's safe to say winter is my favorite season.

it's snowing out. light the pine candle! bring out the fleece and wool! listen to christmas music! (this is my favorite right now. no, never mind that it's not even halloween yet.) but better yet, let's all be thankful for snow.

thanks, snow. you are great.

post-vacation jet lag is the worst.

i don't know how to even start this post. maybe i can announce that i finally started budgeting and it's absolutely fantastic knowing where my money is going? that's pretty great. really though, i've always dreaded finances, but now i'm empowered! go me!

anyway, off to the exciting. last week we went to disneyworld for a family reunion. it was so great. so so so great. we also went to hogwarts, where i drank a butterbeer or two at the three broomsticks (nbd). it's bad when you want your third butterbeer before noon, but it's also oh so good. SO GOOD. BUTTERBEER IS SO GOOD. my bank statement says that i spent some money at zonko's joke shop, so that's pretty neat, i think?  the hogwarts castle tour was cool. the people in portraits moved and talked, and it literally snowed in the castle. i loved seeing all the harry potter candy in honeyduke's, and seeing the wizard prank items for sale in zonko's. also, it totally cracked me up that moaning myrtle's voice is played throughout the bathroom.

disney world is wonderful. there's that disney magic that just made the whole experience so fun. i loved hanging out with all the nieces and nephews, and seeing their reactions. everything was perfect. also, i became one of those instagram-ers that take pictures of food. mikie and i went out to downtown disney one night for some dinner. we came across this little irish pub and ordered the best cheeseburgers of our life. (tomato chutney, garlic mayo, and irish cheese. it was heavenly.)

thanks for all the fun, familia. we miss everybody already! and once again, extra thanks to mark + lisa for making it all happen. we love you guys.

by the end of this post, you'll probably think i'm completely crazy.

lately, i've been reading several graphic designer/hip photographer personal blogs. i like them much better than fashion bloggers. i even read maude apatow's blog, and she's just the teenage daughter of some...director? ha. graphic designer blogs make me want to go out and buy all those film cameras, and learn how to edit and resize my pictures to show off to the world. they are all so wonderfully snarky and relatable in one way or another.

and here's mine, where i write maybe once a month. my record was three times in one month this year, so go me! anyway, my point was that i'm going to buckle down on this blog thing for all my stalkers. i mean, loyal readers. my new record will be four times a month! or five or six! let's not get ahead of ourselves.

i promise to not just talk about "this is what i did last month. here's four pictures, how fantastic!" instead i will write my sarcastic jokes and not even write "just kidding" at the end. i will write my fears, what makes me sad, what makes me happy, and what makes me love michael a little more every day. i also want it to snow right now. i really badly want it to snow.

am i writing too much? are you still reading this?

anyway. some cool things that make me feel sort of vulnerable but this is an effort to make myself more of a person and less of a robot (which, blogger seems to think i am, judging by those STUPID CAPTCHAS THAT I CAN NEVER READ.) -
  • i hate pumping gas. i think this stems from a dislike of driving, and a traumatizing time at an old gas station where i couldn't figure out how to use the pump. i was nineteen.
  • sometimes it blows my mind that i'm twenty-two and i've been married for over two years.
  • mikie saw one of my library books the other day and was like "another dragon book? really? you read too many books about dragons." and i was like "is that even possible!? it's not possible, you don't even know what you're talking about, make your own dinner."
  • if i had to choose... if i HAD to choose, i would be an earth bender.
  • i'm pretty sure mikie and i could have an entire conversation where we just quoted movies or songs. i am 90% positive this is one of my callings in life. hack-y-sack.
  • i listen to an obscene amount of pop music.

so as we can all learn by this post, i'm really weird.

september! provo! food! misc. things!

it's september! september i love you. this september has been great! let's do a recap, shall we?

provo and friends:
last weekend we were able to go to provo to visit some of my friends. i love my friends! they are great.  tayler, ethan, danny, mikie, and i were able to meet up at kneaders for some french toast. i also managed to run into four different people from my freshman ward in helaman halls. four. in one day. it was crazy. (tara! you are great. we should run into each other at the mall more.)
provo, i miss you.

september and its bi-polar weather:
weather lately has been nuts. you need two different outfits for the day. lows in the mid 30s and highs in the mid 80s. except i love it. i love that i can eat italian ice in the day and drink hot chocolate at night.    fall weather, i love you and your indecisiveness.

food:
i made a menu, for two weeks, without repeating a single meal. i usually can't even make a menu for a full week. food adventures, yay!
also we ate at a zillion wonderful restaurants while we were in provo. all i have to say is zupas. please come to rexburg. i'll keep you in business, i promise.

other misc. things: (because i don't know how to spell the full word. misc will have to work for now.)
i always feel like bilbo baggins when i say this, but mountains. i miss mountains. and while utah mountains are nowhere like my alaska mountains, these utah mountains fill the hole in my heart for mountains.
and we bought chacos. soon we'll be buying a suburu and drinking raw milk. ha. just kidding. we love our chacos. they were on killer sale, and we told ourselves we need some good sandals to walk around disney world in.
disney world. DISNEY WORLD. we are coming for you! and hogwarts. if anybody has any tips on how to do disney world/land slash hogwarts, please let me know! i have no idea what i'm doing.

ps. this. is on replay at this household. behold and enjoy.

what we've been up to (answer: nothing)

there is an apple crisp in the oven, harry potter book six playing over the computer, and a nice cool, chill outside. hallelujah! i can't wait for fall!  i can't wait for apple picking, corn mazes, hot apple cider, and crisp fall leaves. i'm also crossing my fingers for a wonderfully snowy winter, but maybe i'm getting ahead of myself. (confession: i listened to the she & him christmas album the other day.)

today we traveled to exotic idaho falls, to visit the tautphaus park zoo. (yep, we don't know how to say it either.) the cheap admission made me think it was probably going to be a so-so zoo but we were extremely impressed!  we've never seen a zebra in real life. or a wallaby. or a red panda. that all changed today! it was awesome. we even heard some lemurs yelling at each other, but that was actually kind of scary.

my apple crisp has been in the oven forever and the apples are not softening. i am concerned. when i find out that my $3 worth of apples has been wasted, i will cry. not really. i will actually probably go to bed, and cry there. but not from the apples, from the terrible book that i checked out from the library. blatant 500 days of summer rip. her name is even june, instead of summer. except on the cover jacket her name is jen, so oops on that editor.

p.s. i know this is old, but i am obsessed with this right now. zd + jgl for life

UPDATE: apples turned out fine. there was no crying.
