the first two glasses i had were a delightful change to just the water that i've been drinking.
the third glass, however, was different.
the third glass, was kind of gross and i had a difficult time downing it.
circa 1996
hey, want some trail mix li-sha?
yes.
well here you go. but you have to eat it all. and by the way, this stuff is probably rabbit food.
it wasn't really rabbit food, but that is what my brother told me. it was just regular kirtland brand trail mix. but it looked like rabbit food. and it probably tasted like rabbit food. so it was gross, and i wouldn't eat it.
but i had to. so in order to trick myself to eat it, i poured in some fruit punch kool-aid, perhaps to make fruity trail mix cereal. or perhaps because kool-aid is supposed to make everything better. but it really doesn't and that third glass tasted like trail mix tainted kool-aid.
funny how that kind of stuff triggers childhood memories.
in other news, we are trying a new recipe every day this week. hopefully it will all be tasty and delicious. yesterday we made home made pesto cavatappi, mikie's favorite noodles and co. dish. it was sooo good. we bought some cavatappi at albertson's, made up parts of the recipe here and there (original recipe found here) and voila. so. dang. good.
we will also be attempting chicken and potato yellow curry, homemade mac and cheese, asian meatballs, and tortilla soup. i love soup. any kind of soup. today i was eating tomato soup and a grilled cheese and thought about how it may just be one of my favorite meals... just in case you were curious.
in other news, i went to oregon for the first time in seventeen years, for my lovely friend tayler's wedding.
this is the picture mikie likes to make fun of me for wearing that hoodie.
it was cold out, all right?
oh and this is the perfect moment. i just had to throw this in.

We need to do a recipe exchange! I have been in a recipe rut lately, and I love getting new ideas! Yellow curry is one of our favorite dishes that I usually make once a week or so. I love the Mae Ploy curry paste, and you use coconut milk to make the base. The recipe is on the container, and you can get it at most Asian stores. We like chicken, potato, carrots, peas, and last time I added asparagus. Yum! That is fun that you got to take a trip!
