moms and other things

this is my mom. isn't she oh so pretty?

we love and miss her lots. this was my first mother's day without my mom. i love my mom, but i know that she wouldn't want us to just sit around and cry, and i think it was just another day to live life to the fullest. i dunno. maybe i seem too insensitive for saying that. so don't get me wrong. i miss my mom. but today is not a day to miss my mom, but to celebrate my mom's life. ha. i remember three mother's days in a row she sent me to bed early so she could have peace and quiet... no joke.

this is michael and his mom.

lisa is awesome. seriously. she has awesome stories and understands our twisted sense of humor. oh, and she's moving to africa. what an adventure that will be! lisa is an excellent cook, and always spoils us. waaay more than anybody should spoil their married kids, but for that we are truly grateful. she raised four wonderful children, and then she had mikie. haha just kidding, mikie is definitely one of those wonderful children. i love him lots too.
just basically, we love our moms! treat your mom like every day is mother's day! :)

in other news... our week of eating delicious foods went preeetty well. i have decided that the pioneer woman really knows what she's talkin about when it comes to food. we tried her version of homemade mac and cheese, and it wasn't my favorite but it was still tasty. (sorry allie. we didn't use velveeta. we don't have velveeta. i think that cheese you can store in your pantry is weird. but mikie likes it so maybe we'll buy it and use your version haha) we had her meatballs and chicken tortilla soup and myyyy oh my they tasty. i don't think i've ever been more proud than when i tasted that tortilla soup and it was edible. well i was proud when mikie got straight a's. but you get the point.

and just in case you wanted to know, i got a job!! yes yes yes! finally. ha. and it's just down the street from me, meaning i don't have to go to i.f. err day. the best part is that it's full time. and by my apartment. did i mention that it's by my apartment? because it is. oh and it's full time. awesome! i saw that they were hiring on friday morning. i went and grabbed an application and typed up a quick resume geared specifically for this job, turned it in friday afternoon, and saturday evening they called me for an interview. i went in a few hours later and thought that i totally bombed the interview, and then two hours later found out that they picked me! i start tomorrow. what a weekend, huh? we are so thankful for employment.

oh and one last thing. sorry for this rambling post. a few weeks ago, mikie saw an advertisement for a mindy gledhill concert on campus. tickets were six dollars with his student discount, which obviously meant that we were going. i mean, come on, we're talking about his mission crush here. never mind that she's married with kids. so we went, and we got there early enough that we landed seats smack dab in the middle of the front row. middle gledhill stood less than ten feet away from us. she's on like every efy cd since i was allowed to go. her voice is amazing. and this is one of her songs that i loved.
yes, that blob with no face is mindy. thank you, quality cell phone pictures.

I love your blog. The part"i remember three mother's days in a row she sent me to bed early so she could have peace and quiet... no joke," really put a smile to my face. Your mom was such an amazing woman. Glad to hear how you and "Boy" are doing :-)
