(EDIT: HAHA FORGOT TO ATTACH PICS. MY BAD.)
i started quilting. once upon a time when i was fifteen, i made a quilt for girl's camp. it was terrible and somehow shrunk so bad that it fit in a baby's crib. the worst, the very worst thing about quilting is cutting out fabric. cutting out fabric was invented by satan and it is probably the worst thing in the whole entire world.
yet here i am, slowly putting together a baby quilt for some unknown baby.
almost every day i've been pinterest-ing 'mid-length layers', and 'lowlights for dark hair'. granted, this happens to me every summer when it gets ridiculously stupid hot out and i chop my hair. this is the first summer in a VERY long time that i haven't done anything to my hair and i am so very tempted to take my crafting shears to my head. i've never dyed my hair before either, because i'm pretty sure i'm too lazy to keep up on the coloring when my hair grows out; but here i am, reaaaaallly wanting to color my hair.
i have known nothing but college life since eighteen, and it absolutely terrifies me to move away from this life that i know. all of a sudden i am not ready to leave rexburg. i know i complain all the time about "rexburg is the WORST. why would you want to live here permanently!? it's terrible!" which is true, rexburg IS terrible. c'mon, there's only two grocery stores here. the only places to go out to eat are mexican and hamburgers, which is actually great cause those are both favorites, but sometimes a girl just wants a zupas near by. as it turns out, mikie very well just might have an internship opportunity in the next town over, so we just might not move after all.
EDIT: WE DON'T HAVE TO MOVE BECAUSE MIKIE IS A ROCK STAR. hallelujah!
in other news non-related to my mid-life crisis, we went the madison county fair the other day with our dear friends robyn + luke. it was miserable hot. we ate barbecue. we went on one ride. (i don't know why i picked the ferris wheel when it is a known fact that i am terrified of heights.) we got stalked by some children we don't know who begged us to pay for their every whim. all in all, a complete fair experience, i would say.
i finally started to go through my alaska pictures from my nikon, and for all my four blog readers, enjoy these:
^^mary, this one is for you!
^^all the grandkids with their grandpa
^^the city of seward is unreal. one of the prettiest places i have ever been.
^^grayden was so scared to sit up on the high fence all by himself but he put on a smile. what a cutie!
^^fireweed was everywhere!

I agree, cutting out fabric is the devil. We need to live closer to each other so we can share one of these bad boys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCh2yejMGcg&feature=share&list=TLA8uF0f6SlXQ
Kara Varley, you are my favorite blog stalker of all time!
I think I've only met you once but I love reading your witty and so real posts. Plus, keeping up on what my lil' bro and my adopted family are doing isn't bad either. All your Alaska pics are beautiful and made me sooooooo homesick. Even if you don't move to Provo you're welcome to come for dinner whenever you're near Spanish Fork.
what a lovely post! learning to quilt is on my bucket list!
xx
sue! i think we actually met twice ;)
