that time we decided to move when the olympics were on (and a lot of ramblings)

so as you can imagine, we got nothing done until a couple of days before. and then on monday, there was this huge miscommunication with the moving truck that our visiting teacher has access to and the nice people in our ward that came to help us move sat around for two hours. we ended up having to shell out $40 to rent a uhaul, and good news! we are moved in! mostly.
it's extremely exciting/hectic. there are boxes and totes everywhere and we can't really find anything, but it's fine. we have a/c again! cause when it's mid 90s and all you can think about is how stupid hot it is, even in the shade, air conditioning is all that matters...right? (okay once we left some chocolate bars on the counter and THEY MELTED. IN MY APARTMENT.) inconveniently (or conveniently, depending on how you look at it), in our old place if you decide to talk on your phone anywhere but the west living room wall, your call would drop. we can now talk on our phones in any room in the house! ahh life's simple pleasures.

back to the olympics. it's really annoying that i can't even check the news/social networking sites without getting any kind of olympic spoilers. what the heck.

mikie is taking a summer term english class, and his assignment was to create something. (please teacher, be a little more vague.) his teacher warned them that last time he assigned that, five different girls showed up with the same pinterest-inspired creation. how embarrassing! anyway because the man is an avid olympic fan, this is his freezer paper stencil shirt.

oh and before i forget, efy is in full force on campus... mikie always wants to yell the efy chant to them. these kids definitely dress to impress. oh young love. sorry for the blurred picture, i took it as we drove by them and it was awkward cause they were waving to us and stuff.

in other news, mikie was mistaken for a new-ish rm again. i married such a youthful looking guy huh? then some ward members who came to help us clean asked mikie when he got off his mission. jokingly, i asked them to guess, and all they said was "well...you just look really young." ha!*

i made this. i feel like it's not even a blog post unless i show off some kind of craft. this is every state we've lived in together, and they'll probably end up in the bathroom. also i messed up on idaho so be nice and don't make fun of it.

and on the extremely educated guess that i won't blog next week, i think i should probably announce that next week is our second anniversary. (ahh, the gift of cotton!) i guess you could say that we're not only non-newlyweds, we're also marriage experts. happy second, mikie boy.

dang. i had something else to ramble on about but i can't remember. instead, happy birthday to my favorite brits, jk rowling and harry potter.

happy tuesday!

*he came home four years ago.

the internet is out, which is a problem.

because i think i have an internet addiction. now how am i supposed to watch white collar!? its our new favorite show. i was SO close to blogging four whole times in june, but the internet decided to stop working at my apartment complex. then the ' internet company guy' came (who turned out to be a kid with a hollister polo) and told me something technical, bla bla bla i have to use the library's internet now.

anyway, in the last couple of weeks- i turned 22, chopped my hair, ate a burger, saw brave twice, got the keys to my next home, oh and my wonderful sister came to visit me. see how fast that was to catch up?

side note: today i woke michael up for field camp twice. once at 6:00, and at 6:10. he groggily told me that next week i should probably wake him up earlier, and i laughed in his face, cause he forgot. next week!? there isn't going to be a next week. hallelujah!!

instagram vomit

a little byu-i friday night lights (also involves a helicopter dropping things onto the field at halftime, people watching/people who talk about their problems really loud, and lots of laughing). italian ice and a nice evening walk around campus. a vintage floral thermos that i scored from a swap meet (that's right, it was free.) and a little snuggle with my newest blanket and my favorite  read. (that's right, that dang freaking blanket is finally DONE! more pictures later. it deserves its own post.)

mikie is halfway done with camp. HALFWAY!!!! my birthday is in less than a week. my sister is coming to visit me + le frère, aaand i bought my own birthday presents today. life is good.

fly me to the moon

there was a local airshow this weekend. michael had a lot of homework to do, so we weren't really planning on going, but i woke up to the sound of a bi-plane and i was giddy. we had to go. a part of me will always love the sound of airplane engines soaring overheard. my dad is a pilot. my grandpa was a pilot, and all of his children worked for boeing. and me, i grew up on a lake in alaska, watching planes take off and land over my head.

what a fortunate childhood i had.

ps. can you tell i finally figured out how instagram works? if i can't have a nice fancy camera, at least my pictures WILL be trendy, dang it!

pps. the husband is growing out a mustache/beard again. it's scratchy.

in which my husband is gone for a million years

mikie's program at school decided it was an awesome idea for all the geology majors to be required to go camping five days a week, for six weeks in a row. and it is awesome! ...for all the geology majors, cause he's out there learning stuff and me... i'm just at home. so if any of you ladies have any tips on not missing your husband too much, feel free to tell me. or if you have a time-turner, i'd like to borrow that as well. thanks.

i mostly try to be active and go outside a couple of times a day. i go on walks and and bike rides. i eat lunch at the highest hill in the city. i peruse the local craft store and library. i sit and read in the sun. i sew. i continue to crochet that dang afghan. i make myself all my favorite meals that i don't normally get to make. and sometimes i watch five episodes of downton abbey in one day. sometimes that just happens.

ps. for everybody who enjoys a good jane austen-esque marathon every know and then, i present you with this rap
