when the going gets tough...

the tough write novel sized blog posts! ha actually they make lists to help them remember why they're blessed! right? because nobody in rexburg is hiring. at all. BLARGH. it's so frustrating. so while we are slowly digging (actually make that fast digging.) towards the bottom of our bank account, i try to keep a positive attitude, but hey man, sometimes eves that is hard. so once again, elder holland's wonderful quote comes to mind.
if for a while the harder you try the harder it gets-- take heart. so it has been with the best people that have ever lived.
i think i just need to have more faith in the Lord's timing, and have a good attitude. is this too debbie downer for blogging? sometimes i hate it when people spill all their sorrows on their blogs cause after a while it becomes sort of a "look at me everybody, my life is sooo awful." sorry if it's too much. so without further ado, ten things make me happy:

  1. one of my best friends from alaska is coming to 'surprise' visit her fiance this weekend! (he's semi-figured it out by now.) i haven't seen her in over a year and i'm so excited to hang out with her.
  2. i can finally say that the hunger games movie comes out next month. aaahhh so excited! except that i recently started having dreams about being a tribute which may sound funny but in all actuality, is quite terrifying. but back to the main point.  if you haven't seen trailer #2 yet, go and watch it. chills. every time.
  3. the sense of satisfaction. i've started to sew more, and while it drives me crazy when something doesn't quite turn out how i wanted after all the time spent on it, i love it. i love looking at an almost finished/finished project and thinking "look at that. i made those baby shoes. booya." kind of like when i listen to songs (like this. not my band. i wish.) that i played in the high school symphonic band and think "dang, we rocked that! i helped make something sound that beautiful!"
  4. a simple blog redesign makes me incredibly happy! its amazing how it makes me not hate my blog, and therefore i want to actually write in it more. after hours and hours of blog stalking, tip scouring, and font browsing/downloading, i am happy with the final product. i'm seriously not even fishing for compliments here haha.
  5. i love books! over christmas break i started the chronicles of narnia. i absolutely loved the series. the Christian theme is so strong and wonderful and the whole series is just beautiful. also the fact that c.s. lewis was friends with j.r. tolkein blows my mind.
  6. my brother lives five minutes away from me and i love it! i love having family and friends in rexburg to hang out with.
  7. having a good winter freeze. there's actually snow on the ground. not on all the ground, but still. is it weird that i love winter? probably. i want it to really snow one day and have it stick for a solid week. is that too much to ask, idaho?
  8. watching favorite movies (fantastic mr. fox, that thing you do!, the other guys) with my Boy, and drinking homemade hot chocolate. and that, ladies and gents, is how we actually go through a whole gallon of milk before it expires.
  9. pictures of my beautiful alaska, that my sister took.
  10. maybe a little cliche, but my handsome husband makes me the most happy. he's the best! we hit our year and a half mark of marriage a couple of days ago. i can't believe how fast time flies! apparently in our new ward, we are marriage veterans, which makes us laugh, because in our old ward we were considered marriage newbies. seriously though. whenever people ask how long we've been married they always say "wow! that's a long time!" after we tell them haha.
